We do tend to do what I think is a lot of laundry on the ship and it starts with pressing and dry cleaning sent out on embarkation day. We are fortunate to have Elite Laundry benefits. The only exception is bathing suits and t-shirts we wear in salt water which we rinse the salt out of when we get back to the cabin. We don't spend time washing clothing out in the sink on a cruise. $15 to $40 per day on laundry would probably be about right if you only brought two outfits and had to wash one of them every day. Frankly, I would far less enjoy my cruise if I were spending too much money on laundry. On a long cruise I take clothes that I can wash in the sink, ahng to dry, and take advantage of any laundry specials mid-cruise. is "reasonable." If you send all your laundry out it would cost $15-40 per day to keep your clothing clean. Sorry, I don't think $5 for a shirt, $5 for a pair of pants, etc.
#CELEBRITY LAUNDRY SERVICE HOW TO#
If you as a "on vacation no laundry for me" type won't use it why would you berate those fellow passengers who would like to use it? It baffles me ever time one of these threads comes up.ĭon't ever tell me how to enjoy my vacation or spend my vacation budget.
#CELEBRITY LAUNDRY SERVICE FREE#
:p:DĪs frequent cruise-abusers :D we get Elite free laundry which is FANTASTIC but no self serve laundry on "X" is and area Princess kicks Celebrity's butt. I have no idea what a pair of socks and undies weigh but it's not 3 pounds (2.25 kilos). I have no idea what place in the USA it costs $1.95 undies, Swimsuit $2.95, Socks, pair $1.95 to wash and anyone thinks that's a deal. Shore wash and fold services even in the Caribbean runs about $1.50 to $ 2.25 a pound, and that's in and around touristy areas.

I will certainly never worry about not being able to do it myself!

And that is not even counting the cost of the soap and cost to use the machines if there is one. Even though my wife may not be helping me, her time could be impacted as well while waiting for me to do my "chores", so that could double to almost $60 to do my own laundry.

If I take two hours of my vacation time to do laundry one week into the cruise, that is almost $30 worth of time dedicated to doing laundry. Including cruise booking price, airfare, insurance, fees and taxes, gratuities, specialty dining, excursions, drinks, etc., my estimated hourly cost for the cruise is $14.37. We typically bring just over a week's of clothes for a two week cruise, getting any soiled clothing laundered near the middle of the cruise so we can wear them again. My wife and I are taking a 14 day Med cruise later this year.

I thought I'd try this for my next cruise. A CruiseCritic member once factored in the hourly cost of a cruise, including travel and miscellaneous expenses incurred, and demonstrated that the cost of doing you own laundry, when the cost of the hours expended doing the laundry and thus lost doing "vacation" activities was considered, it was more than the cost of sending it out. But compared to doing it yourself, it is even cheaper. In fact, they are less expensive for some articles of clothing. Prices are in line with laundry services in my area. Consider these comments made on a recent thread about laundry on Summit: Some people may prefer to do their own laundry to avoid what you consider unreasonable prices, but doing their own is not free. As you said there are usually mid cruise specials and if you have any status on Celebrity you get coupons for reduced to fee laundry. But if one packs right and takes advantage of the laundry specials mid cruise, there would be no reason to do laundry or spend a fortune paying to have it done. I agree I would not spend $15-$40 a day on laundry.
